Even for those not so experienced hikers this leisurely walk is one of the most beautiful height - paths of Southtyrol. Beginning at Mount Garibaldi at the Passo Stelvio, the path leads you slightly downward to the Alpine hut Forcola.
The Ortler can be climbed by using the old but newly reopened route of the Path Merano. The route begins at the Holy Three Springs in Trafoi, behind the pilgrimage church. Passing the hut Borletti in direction Alpine hut Payer and crossing the ridge "High Edge" to the Ortler Plateau the climb continues right to the top.
